Center of Rotko pleasantly surprised City Council deputies, but there are still many questions about the further activity of the center
On the 29th of December, before passing the building of the Art Center of Rotko to Daugavpils City Council deputies, was organized a trip to the fortress to see the already done repair works.
Chairperson of Daugavpils City Council Žanna Kulakova expressed satisfaction over the seen. She emphasized that the opening of the center the following year will be a significant event, in addition, next year will be anniversary year of Rotko. Mrs. Kulakova believes that opening of Center of Rotko will be a great incentive for the development of tourism and the revival of the entire fortress. Rotko name is widely known, so there is hope that the name will attract attention.
Interviewed Daugavpils City Council deputies positively commended the work of builders, but most importantly, as noted by the deputies, is how the center will work in the future, how it will be able to bring a profit and lure tourists.
The tutor of the cultural sphere, the first Vice-chairman of Daugavpils City Council Vitalijs Azarevičs explained that everything will dependent on us, what kind of team will be created at the center, what will be the policy of marketing, what kind of dialogue will form with the Ministry of Culture, because hopes for state support in the development of the center. Of course, the future of the center depends on how will be attracted the attention of visitors, how well he will be able to make a profit. This is a large and important work that lies ahead.
Rotko Art Centre is one of the first ones, but very large steps to the development of the fortress. Deputies hope that the name of Rotko, his world famous trademark will attract the interest of art lovers and tourists, and Daugavpils will be an internationally recognized art center of Rotko, the only place in Eastern Europe, where you will see the original works by Rotko.
