COMPETITION FOR THE BEST PARK BENCH DESIGN CONCEPT FOR THE PARK BENCH AREA OF THE CENTRAL PARK

Daugavpils city council announces competition for design concepts of the park bench

Development of urban areas that satisfy the contemporary demands of the society is unthinkable without active participation and involvement of all society members. The quality of the visual image of the city has been determined to a great extent by urban environment and design objects, small architectural forms. Daugavpils city council announces the competition for design concepts of park benches as objects of urban environment.

The objective of the competition is to create the design of the park bench- an object of urban environment that besides performing of its traditional function could be viewed as the design object with artistic value as well. Including of the elements characterising the enterprise or author of the project into the design is highly advisable. Best works would be placed in the park bench area of the central park, specially created on this occasion.

Competition will have two stages: selection of sketches and selection of works.

Competition deadlines:

-     10.00   02.03.2012. – informative meeting at Daugavpils City Council, Conference Hall,Kr.Valdemāra street1;

-     Till 12.00  16.04.2012. – submission of the competition applications (sketches) at the City Planning and Building Department of Daugavpils City Council, Raiņa street 28, 3^rd floor or electronically to the e-mail ppdep@daugavpils.lv; more detailed information: 65457162, juris.pundurs@daugavpils.lv, 65457161, irena.gajevska@daugavpils.lv;

-     13.00   18.05.2012. – announcement of the competition results at the Daugavpils City Council, Conference Hall, Kr.Valdemāra street 1;

-     25.05.2012. – placing the benches in the central park of the city.

Competition regulations can be received at the City Planning and Building Department of Daugavpils City Council, Raiņa street28, 3^rd floor at working days, during office hours.
