The impressions of the Saeima Sports subcommittee of Culture, Education and Science committee about Daugavpils are only positive.
Subcommittee was working in Daugavpils on the 15th of October. There was a meeting with Daugavpils City Council Chairperson Žanna Kulakova. Members of subcommittee were offered to meet the infrastructure of sport in Daugavpils – subcommittee attended Daugavpils Ice Hall, Sport boarding-school, Chess and Checkers club, “Lokomotive” stadium. After the lunch the subcommittee had a visiting meeting.

Delegation of Harbin’s city mass media representatives is taking away positive impressions from Daugavpils.

A few days in Daugavpils were spent by the delegation of Harbin’s city , which is our twin city in China . Members of the delegation were head managers and chiefs of Harbin’s TV information service, correspondents of the biggest Harbin’s newspaper. The aim of the visit was creating the film and a series of publications about all the 27 twin cities of Harbin.

On the 22th of October, 1972 Daugavpils Palace of culture was opened by a festive concert. This year the Palace is celebrating its’ 40th jubilee. The festive activities will take place from 18th to 24th October

Žanna Kulakova with the other biggest Latvia's cities' mayors had a meeting with Prime Minister V.Dombrovskis.
On the 11th of October a meeting of the Association of Latvia’s Large cities with Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis took place in Riga. After the meeting, Daugavpils City Council Chairperson Žanna Kulakova informed that the meeting was very constructive, a good dialogue between the mayors and the prime minister was achieved. The number of discussed issues was so large that for some of the questions the time was not enough. Mr. Dombrovskis noted the necessity to resume regular meetings with the heads of large cities.

Vitalijs Azarevičs met with leaders of the school union organizations
On the 9th of October Department of General and Professional education brought together the leaders of the school trade union organizations. Meeting was attended by Daugavpils City Council 1st Vice-chairman Vitalijs Azarevičs and head of Department Marina Isupova. The purpose of the meeting was a conversation about what municipality has already done for the benefit of schools and teachers, as well as a discussion of what needs to be done in this area.
