The New Russian House has opened its doors in Varshavas Street
On the 15th of October in a solemn atmosphere were opened new rooms of Daugavpils Russian Culture Centre, which was attended by the heads of Daugavpils City Council, deputies, priests.
Daugavpils City Council Chairperson Žanna Kulakova greeted the Russian House and empathized, thatDaugavpilsis unique with its multiculturalism. The main city’s treasure are the people, inDaugavpilsrepresentatives of more than 20 nationalities live together. Each citizen is important, and City Council tries to support any attempts of saving their culture and language, loads of attention is paid to supporting nationally-cultural centers and communities. Žanna Kulakova expressed her great gratitude to the Head of Russian Culture Centre Geroida Bogdanova for her perennial labor, patriotism and saving the traditions.
All the present were greeted by the council of Russian Federation Aleksandrs Vešņakovs. He thanked Daugavpils local government for a huge support of Russian community. General council of Belorussian Republic Viktor Geisik expressed his gladness over the fact, that city government gave to Russian Culture Centre such a wonderful gift – free and termless, spacious and comfortable building.
Some greeting words were pronounced byDaugavpilsbishop Aleksandrs, Lutheran bishop Einars Alpe , the greeting of St Peter’s church’s dean Aleksandrs Madelans was read aloud.
For word of whole Russian community the Head of Russian Culture Centre Geroida Bogdanova expressed her gratitude to Daugavpils City Council and the deputies for such awaited and gorgeous gift – spacious rooms, which in many artistic projects will be able to realize.
After the festival opening the guests had a chance to see the rooms of the Centre; lots of love and talents were put into its’ design. Now all the variety of thematic and artistic expositions will be seen by visiting this municipal establishment of culture both by citizens and guests ofDaugavpils.
