The Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia commended the work of local governments with the youth, activities for youth, cooperation with youth organizations. In recent years much has been done in Daugavpils in this area, and it has not gone unnoticed.

The results of 2012 in the field of tourism are summarized

On the 13th of December vice-chairperson of LivijaJankovska held a meeting of experts of the working group on tourism, the main aim of which is to evaluate the development of this sector in the past year. LivijaJankovska emphasized that in this direction have already been done a lot, but much remains to be done.

Daugavpils city Council deputies established the governmental institution “Daugavpils Centre of Art named after Mark Rotko”

On the13th of December Daugavpils City Council deputies took a decision to establish the Centre named after Mark Rotko and approved a provision to that institution, his director and staff-roll.

On the 12th of December Social Affair Department opened a charity exhibition-fair at Daugavpils City Council.

The exhibition presents numerous souvenirs, original and useful household items, and jewelry from beads, fabrics, and pieces of needlework. All of these remarkable works are made by hands of Day center clients of social care and rehabilitation center "World of opportunities", the orphans of shelter "Priedīte".

A pleasant Christmas gift for inmates of orphanage

On the 9th of December, 2012 in Riga Old Town Dome Square was held Cheerful Santa Claus race. The organizers of the event were Riga Internation "Rotary Club". The purpose of the fun race was to support the Children's Home "Priedīte" in Daugavpils.

From the 1st of January is planned to provide the city's streets and squares lighting by SIA "LabiekārtošanaD”

On the 6th of December Daugavpils City Council Members discussed the issue of permit for  PSIA "Sadzīves pakalpojumu kombināts" to hand over its property for use without compensation to SIA "Labiekārtošana D" in the Finance Committee.
