The results of 2012 in the field of tourism are summarized

On the 13th of December vice-chairperson of LivijaJankovska held a meeting of experts of the working group on tourism, the main aim of which is to evaluate the development of this sector in the past year. LivijaJankovska emphasized that in this direction have already been done a lot, but much remains to be done.

"First of all, has been completed concept development of tourism, and secondly, successfully organized the First Tourism Conference, which was held in February. The city found new tourism products, new gifts, is developing the brand "Daugavpilsproduct." Great attention has been given to the marketing activities. All these actions have had positive results, and the number of tourists in the city has increased significantly, "- says LivijaJankovska.

TouristInformationCenterhas compiled statistics and conducted a survey among the tourists. By the 1st of October theTouristInformationCenterwas attended by 36,000 tourists. It should be noted that a large number of tourists visit the city without the help of intermediaries. The largest part, 52% of all tourists, are the residents ofLatvia, 17,000 people came from abroad. Most tourists come fromRussia, Lithuania,PolandandGermany.

Number of visitors of the fortress, despite passing out there reconstruction works, increased by nearly 2 times, which helped it to gain the status of an outstanding tourist attraction object. However, the leader in the number of visits is Latgale Zoo. During the year it was attended by about a thousand people, 20% of them - foreigners. Excursions to the Zoo pass in different languages; the institution pays much attention to training the guides.

Number of visitors increased inDaugavpilslocal Regional and Art museum, where have been established new traditions of expositions, have been prepared two new exhibitions from the vaults of the museum, specialists began full use of new technology, which is especially appreciated by youth. The center of pottery is developing. It is planned to start an active cooperation work withLatvianMuseumof Nature.

At the meeting were discussed and the accents in the field of tourism for the next year. Definitely will be organized the Tourism conference, but in spring for use of the potential of art Center Rothko. Overall, 2013 will pass under the sign of Rotko, so we need to work to attract connoisseurs of Mark Rotko works from around the world toDaugavpils.
