An international Rotko workshop has started

Rotko workshop is being held in Daugavpils for already 8 years in September. It gathers artists from different countries, so that they draw and get inspired by the landscapes of Rotko’s native city - Daugavpils.

On Saturday, September 15, in the courtyard of the Daugavpils Museum the Grand opening was held for visitors. Daugavpils city chairperson Žanna Kulakova pronounced the speech for the present artists. The mayor emphasized that Rotko trademark is very important to Daugavpils. It promotes the city's name. Rotko workshop is a good tradition, the development of which Daugavpils should be continuing in the future. The next year the participants will be invited to the newly-done artistic Rotko center. Next year will be the jubilee year, because it is planned to commemorate the 110th year anniversary of Mark Rotko.

Participants of Rotko workshop were also greeted by Daugavpils City Council 1^st Vice-chairman - Vitaly Azarevich. He wished success to artists and expressed satisfaction with the fact that the collection of workshop’s artistic work will add up with another 15 new artistic works.

Artists will work creatively for a week, and the workshop will conclude with an exhibition of artistic works on the birthday of Rothko - September 25.
