The Third Night of arts in Daugavpils

Already third year in a row 9th of June in Daugavpils fortress under the slogan “Artist in the region” Night of arts takes place.

In evenings, when its getting dark, all the human feelings are escalating, and this is one of the reasons why a lot of events are taking  place in that late evening  time. This is shown by such popular events like Museum Night, Night of Churches and also Night of Arts that is taking place in Daugavpils for the third time.

In the Night of arts visitors of Daugavpils Fortress will have an opportunity to take part in a bright, educative and artful program.    

Programm of events:

22.00 - 02.00 -  - Exhibitions of Silence Season ( Rothko Centre)            

Seven actual exhibitions of regional, Latvian and foreign artists in Rothko Centre.

22.00 - 22.50 – Discussion / Press-conference of regional artists ( Library of Rothko Centre)

Discussion and Press-conference which is available for all visitors, where regional artists, people of creative professions and participants of Night of arts will take part.

22.00 - 00.00 и 01.00 - 02.00 – Light and Music show from DJ Gatis (Rothko Centre Yard)

from 22.00 – Live Broadcasting from <>  (1st shore lunette of Daugavpils Fortress)

Good music, phone interviews and talks about art in radio broadcasting.

22.00-23.00 – Daugavpils Regional and Art museum pearls ( Rothko center music-hall)

23.00 – Contemporary sculpture object WAR HORSE GHOST opening (Fortress, next to Rothko center’s north facade)

In the Night of Art will be reveald International sculpture symposium jury nominant, sculpturer, Egon Persevic guided group of artists modeled, large format sculpture ”war horse ghost” which will become one of the independent contemporary art objects in Daugavpils.

23.00 - 00.00 -  Acquaintance with living creatures of the moate, with generative representatives ( at 1st bank lunette)

Daugavpils bat center will let anyone fit in bat’s jacket.

23.30 – Studio 3KM Dokumentary broadcast about Vladislav Loci ( Rothko centers conference hall, entrance from South apparel)

23.30 and 00.30 – Zinoo ”Regional smoke” (White tent on Rothko centers North ramp)

23.30 – 00.00 – PIKC Daugavpils high school of design and art ,Sun school – Fashion show ( at emerging Martinsons house)

00.30 – - SANRI first day of exhibition catalogue (Rothko centers B sector by exhibition of SANRI)

00.00 – 01.00 – band “Jauda” concert ( Rothko center forecourt)

Pop/rock music band, group of three players, from Livani, that is playing active , take part in competition , music festivals closer and farther places of Latvia. Now they are working hard on their first album that will appear publicly for the first time this year in autumn.

01.00 - 02.00 – Creative workshops Ceramic laboratory with Egon Parsevics, Inguna Levsa, Maris Popov and Oksana (Daugavpils Fortress, 8 Hospitalu St.)

01.00- 02.00 – dancing play/performance (at emerging Martinsons house)

The combination of Latvian folk dance, tango, hip-hop and break dance together with music and visual art will create a performance of syncretism action paintin, which in English means painting of an action and thus makes both the event participants and visitors think about the possibilities of synthesis of art and expansion of boundaries of dance. The author of the project Elizabeta Poddubnova.

До 00.00 -  Informative slideshow of the 3rd international festival of historical reconstruction "Dinaburg 1812" (Fortress, 5 Nikolaia St.)

In the Art night from 22.00 to 02.00  Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art center  offers SPECIAL prices: all changeable expositions - 1.50 EUR, permanent exposition - "MARK ROTKO. LIFE AND ART "with the original works of Mark Rothko and the original painting by Edward Munch from the Trondheim Museum of the Arts - 3.00 EUR. The cost of visiting all the expositions of the Rothko Center is 4.50 EUR.
