Daugavpils county Tourism Information Centre participated in the International Trade Fair ‘Balttour’
Daugavpils county Tourism Information Centre participated in the 20th International Trade Fair ‘Balttour 2013’, which was held from February 8-10 February at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre. The centre took part at holding a presentation on variety of tourism opportunities of Latgale at stand of Latgale region ‘Latgale unites’ in cooperation with 18 counties and towns of Latgale and tourism specialists from Utena region (Lithuania), Vitebsk (Belarus) and Pskov area (Russia).
The new handouts on actual information regarding the tourism opportunities in the city ofDaugavpilsand theDaugavpilscounty prepared by the Daugavpils county Tourism Information Centre were offered to the visitors of the trade fair. Daugavpils Travel guide (in Latvian, Russian and English), map ofDaugavpilscity (in Latvian, Russian and English), tourist map ofDaugavpilscounty (in Latvian, Russian and English) as well as tourist map of nature park ‘Daugavas loki’ (in Latvian, Russian and English) were available to the visitors of the trade fair.
Several new tourist brochures which were created in cooperation with tourism specialists of Daugavpils county Tourism Information Centre were offered to the public. Such as Tourist map of Latgale (in Latvian and Russian) which was prepared in cooperation with State Agency of Tourism Development and which contains information on the most popular tourist sights of Daugavpils city and Daugavpils county, accommodation and tours. Tourist catalogue and tourist map (in Latvian, Russian and English) has been prepared together with specialists of tourism information centres of Latgale, Aukštaitija and Vitebsk within the project ‘Fostering Capacity for Tourism Development in Latgale-Utena-Vitebsk Cross Border Region’ (LLB-1-098) (BELLA DVINA 2), which is being implemented within the European Neighbourhood and Partnership instrument of the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Cross-border Cooperation Programme. The tourist catalogue and tourist map present the best tourism offer of the tourist destinations ‘Baltic lake land’ (Latgale-Aukštaitija) and ‘Bella Dvina’ (Latgale –Vitebskregion). Map of Latgale andPskovregions (in Latvian, Russian and English) that has been created within the project ELRI- 129 ‘Tour de Latgale andPskov’ was also offered to visitors of the trade fair.
Exhibition visitors showed great interest in the information concerning Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art centre, Daugavpils Fortress andNaturePark‘Daugavas loki’, as well as tourist accommodation opportunities inDaugavpilsandDaugavpilscounty.
This year the ‘Balttour’ celebrated its 20th anniversary, and had the highest attendance – 700 tourism service providers from 34 countries participated in the trade fair. Photos of the ‘Balttour 2013’ can be found at http://www.facebook.com/Daugavpils.novada.TIC
The season of tourism fairs continues and from February 15-17 the Daugavpils county Tourism Information Centre will participate at the international tourism fair ‘Tourest’, which will be held in Tallin, the capital ofEstonia. The participation has been enabled due to the activities of the project ELRI – 129 ‘Tour de Latgale andPskov’.
