News of Daugavpils Youth Centre of informal education

Oh the 3^rd of September Youth Centre of informal education has opened its doors in VaršavasStreet 45. This Centre is a governmental structure of Daugavpils City Council Youth Department. Regulation about the activity of the Centre has been approved on the 16^th of July, 2012.

Idea of Youth Centre is in creating the possibilities for every young citizen of Daugavpils (as well as for the residents of other regions) to join the work of any local youngster organizations in the framework of existing programs of informal education. Each visitor can join the collective, which seems to be interesting for him, get some new knowledge, experience and simply to discuss any interesting topic –beginning with sports and ending with art.

The first Centre’s month was organizing. Were written internal rules, which representatives of different organizations got acquainted with, repairs and areas’ cleaning took place, an internet connection question was solved, the furniture was placed into its places and were prepared rooms for the organizations.

During its short period of work, the Centre was visited by Daugavpils City Council First Vice-Chairman V.Azarevičsseveral times and he announced his vision of Centre’s work, which aim is to realize the programs of informal education of youngsters in co-operation with local youngster organizations.

Specialists of Youth Department in co-operation with Management of general and professional educationare working under the implementation of informal education program “Training of youngster leaders”. In the framework of this program, beginning from 7^th of September, probation theoretical and practical studies already take place. Currently in the Youth Centre of informal education are actively working 11 youngster organizations, 14 rooms art used, 4 organizations are forming several documents in order to participate the programs of Youth Centre.

Currently wishes of local youngster organizations about the informal education programs, rooms, equipment and everything needed for active work are reviewed; Centre’s activity plan is drafting up by youngster organizations, directions of drafting informal educational programs for the next calendar year are appointed.
