The project „Enhancing volunteering actions and quality in Europe”

On 14-16 March in Daugavpils an international thematic seminar on volunteering actions of multinational society in a multicultural environment took place within the framework of the project „Enhancing volunteering actions and quality in Europe” EVOLAQ. The project is implemented by Daugavpils City Council together with Norrkoping municipality in Sweden (lead partner) and partners from Italy, Germany, Austria, Croatia and Finland within the framework of the 2^nd activity “Democratic engagement and civic participation” of the European Union programme “Europe for Citizens”.

Organisers of the seminar informed local and international participants about volunteering experience in multicultural environment of  multinational city. Participants had an opportunity to visit Daugavpils City Council, Daugavpils University, Design and Art School “Saules skola”, Daugavpils national cultural centres, Daugavpils Fortress, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre and other places in the city, which were presented from volunteering perspective.

So far international meetings were held in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Croatia and several local work group meetings in Daugavpils. The goal of the project is to increase the level of knowledge on volunteering actions in Europe, to raise the involvement of citizens and to attract and involve people of various ethnic groups in the processes of civic participation, as well as to share experience between European cities - how to support and promote volunteering actions in municipalities.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union programme „Europe for Citizens”.
