On the verge of the 99th anniversary of the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia, on 16 November, 16:00, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will launch its new exhibition season – THE NORDIC CHARM.
The new exhibition season at the Rothko Centre combines Nordic calm and reserve with minimalism and laconicism in form, colour and creative thinking.
The season will surprise every art lover with a DANISH GROUP PROJECT “Trans-figuration”, which not only evinces recent developments in Danish contemporary art, but also draws upon cutting-edge opportunities afforded by the science and technologies of art.
A bold and different perspective and pictorial style marks the paintings by a Lithuanian artist RIČARDAS GARBAČAUSKAS and a Norwegian artist BEATE GJERSWOLD. Ceramic artists UNA GURA and SILVIJA ŠMIDKENA will conjure up pronounced plasticity of form in their ceramic exhibitions. EGILS ROZENBERGS, with his reverence towards classical traditions in textile art, and PĒTERIS SIDARS, with his relentless urge to experiment, will offer a peculiar game of contrasts and reaffirm the diversity of textile art.
With winter approaching, The Nordic season comes with a special charm, ambiance, harmony and a small burst of flame, which will warm our thoughts while we wait for a new spring.
During the season’s opening event, from 16:00 until 17:00, the new exhibitions will be open to the public free of charge.
The new exhibition season will be available until 14 January 2018.
