On August 4, the program of events of the 1st Latvia International Contemporary Ceramics Festival will begin with the international ceramic symposium in Daugavpils. From August 14 till 18, various workshops, lectures, exhibitions and demonstrations will take place within the framework of the festival.
The program of the 1st Latvia International Contemporary Ceramics Festival will start with CERAMIC LABORATORY, the 5th International Ceramic Art Symposium, which takes place in Daugavpils on August 4-18. The symposium is organized by the Daugavpils Clay Art Centre in cooperation with the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
During the symposium, more than 15 international artists will create 7 large-scale ceramic objects that on August 18 at 22.00-23.00 will glow in flaming fire sculptures and will be the culmination of the symposium and the festival. The opening of fire sculptures will be accompanied by the performance of well-known Latvian marimba virtuoso Rihards Zaļupe. At the end of the festival, the ceramic objects will decorate the landscape of the Daugavpils city.
Not only a symposium of professional ceramic artists will be held within the framework of the Latvia International Contemporary Ceramics Festival, but also a selection of lectures, creative workshops and other events will be available for visitors.
