Daugavpils City Council together with Norrkopping municipality in Sweden (lead partner) implements project „Enchancing volunteering actions and quality in Europe” (EVOLAQ) within the frames of European Union Programme “Europe for Citizens”, 2nd activity “Democratic engagement and civic participation”. The project involves 8 partners from 7 countries: Italy, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, Austria, Croatia, Finland.
The goal of the project is to increase the level of knowledge of volunteering actions in
Europe, raise the involvement of citizens in volunteering, as well as share experience between European cities - how to support volunteering in municipalities. 9 international events will be organized for the promotion of European voluntary work, which will be used in a variety of ways of working methods. The first project local work group meeting was held on the 30th of March, in the Development Department of Daugavpils City Council in order to identify how active is volunteering in Daugavpils. The work group was attended by representatives from the Development Department, the Department of Youth, students from the Daugavpils University and representatives of Daugavpils University and Career Initiative Support Center and students from Daugavpils Russian Secondary School-Lyceum and the 3rd Daugavpils Secondary School. Work Group representatives shared their stories about their experiences in volunteering and future plans, the project tasks and ideas, as well, the project opening meeting of the project coordinators in Austria, Linz City was discussed.
