On the 23rd of November Latviawas attended by President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski Along with him toLatviacame the Polish entrepreneurs and government representatives.
Daugavpils City Council Chairperson Žanna Kulakova told that there was a business forum, which was opened by Latvian and Polish presidents. Žanna Kulakova had the honor to presentDaugavpilsand the entire Latgales region.
Another important event was the signing of statement on the negotiations between the Lesser Poland Voivodship, Masovian-Varmian Voivodship representatives and representatives of the Latgale region. The document was signed by the representative of municipalities of Latgale -DaugavpilsCity Council Chairperson Žanna Kulakova. The document was also signed by Latgale Regional Planning and Development Council Deputy Aldis Adamovičs from the Latvian side, from the Polish side of Varmian-Masurian Voivodship Marshal Jacek Protas and the Lesser-Poland Voivodship vice Marshal Voicek Kozak.
The statement signed by the parties expressed their will to initiate cooperation between Varmian-Masurian and Lesser-Poland voivodships in theRepublicofPolandand Latgale region inLatvianRepublic.
The areas of cooperation:
Support for entrepreneurship, economic cooperation, regional development, education, tourism, culture and cooperation at the municipal level.
Žanna Kulakova: "Participation in such a big event and the signing of this document is further proof that the plan of Latgale development is functioning and the government is interested in Latgale region development".
Mrs. Kulakova emphasized that such cooperation is particularly important exactly for Daugavpils, because the city has the largest Polish community, is carefully keeping Polish traditions and teaching the Polish language. This cooperation will certainly enhance the Daugavpils Polish community activities.
