Swedish National Day in Daugavpils

On the 4^th June Swedish National Day will be celebrated in Daugavpils.  For the first time in Latvia the Swedish National Day will be celebrated outside the capital city. This celebration will be even more important due to the fact that it will be also Daugavpils’ city celebrations.

Swedish Ambassador to Latvia H.Landerholm thinks it is a very important occasion and emphasis a need to do more international activities outside Riga. “Daugavpils is a second largest city in Latvia which is very multicultural and full with unique traditions. We have cooperated with the city and the University for many years and therefore it was a logical decision to bring the National Day celebrations there for the first time. We hope that even more students will decide to study Swedish language to make closer cultural and business cooperation.”

On 4^th June everyone is welcomed to visit a “Swedish tent” in the middle of the city center, in Pumpura park from 11:00 to 14:00. There will be an opportunity to meet the Swedish Ambassador, company’s “Taxikurir” representative, Nordea bank representatives, Swedish speaking students, opportunity to play a table hockey and learn some step moves with a help of a dancing group “Soul Tap”.

Welcome to the opening of the Swedish tent at 11.00!

For younger generation there will be a chance to meet world known Pippi Longstocking nere the tent and see a cartoon “Karlsson on the roof” in the cinema “Silver Screen”.

Since Sweden is the 3^rd biggest music exporter in the world one should not miss a chance to experience some Swedish music vibes later in the evening in the “Queen Club”.
